Quantity Surveyors:

Chartered Quantity Surveyors are the financial managers of the construction team who add value by managing the functions of cost, time and quality. They provide effective cost management and control in building and engineering projects of any scale. Demand for their services is worldwide. As consultants and in public authorities, the service provided is more comprehensive than that offered by any comparable profession. They influence every stage of construction, from initial feasibility to settlement of the final project account. They produce estimates and cost plans, produce documentation for selection of contractors, value works in progress, check accounts, and advise on running costs of a building in its life cycle. Their knowledge of the industry enables chartered surveyors to act as project managers on behalf of their clients. with responsibility for the selection, management and co- ordination of all the resources needed for the satisfactory completion of a construction project.

Quantity Surveying involves a three year degree course, which enables the undergraduate to experience the industry at first hand whilst gaining invaluable knowledge before commencing their final year. Once graduated the next step in your career is to become chartered which takes a minimum of two years professional training involving written submissions and a final assessment.
