December 2002:

PROJECT REPORT No.3
(continued)

Phase Two:

Progress in the last period has been concentrating on the installation of the steelwork frame and precast floor units to the Sports Hall and Administration Block, whilst works to the science wing have involved the continuation of the internal walls and the installation of the roof construction. The aim of the contractor is to have the science wing roof completed by the time of the Christmas break to allow external cladding works to commence early in the New Year. The most noticeable event of the month has been the installation of the steelwork to form the new front entrance area to the Church Road entrance. The steelwork frame provides an idea of the scale of the new entrance to Church Road, but the full complexity and design of the entrance areas will only become apparent as the roof and windows become installed around March 2003.

Works within areas of the existing building as part of this phase are commencing with the new lift shaft base and lift shaft being installed, along with the continuing connection of the new building to the existing at the end of the existing corridor. Works to the existing internal courtyard around the staff room have now commenced to provide additional hard surface areas.
