Olivebank Cottage, Long Lane

Turn right from Mill Lane into Long Lane, walking on a remnant of the old cobbled surface alongside the Sandy Knowe boundary wall. Cross over by the Liverpool Masonic Bowling Club. This building was originally 'Olivebank Cottage', where Dr Henry Park - the famous Liverpool surgeon who had attended the birth of William Gladstone - is reputed to have lived in retirement. The 1851 Census recorded his daughters - Elizabeth aged 68 and Charlotte aged 64, described as 'landed proprietors and fund holders' - together with their niece and two 'house servants'. The two servants had both been born in the Isle of Man.
