Olive Mount Redevelopment:

An extract from the Design Statement
produced by ECD Architects Ltd on behalf of
the Liverpool Housing Action Trust
and Wimpey Homes

The proposed development comprises:

a) The demolition of
the Olive Mount Wing of Childwall Community Comprehensive School [1],
the Art Annex housed in a Victorian school at the eastern end of Olive Mount Road [2],
the three residential tower blocks known as Olive Mount Heights [3],
the Olive Mount Community Centre also located at the eastern end of Olive Mount Road [4].

b) The provision
of town and mews-style houses [5], detached houses [6], flats [7] and single storey patio houses [8] on the cleared land. The patio houses are back-to-back bungalow dwellings with two internal garden courtyards in lieu of a back garden. The ownership of the site will be shared in unequal parts by LHAT, Wimpey Homes and a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) ( to be identified) . The latter will develop, own and manage the Liverpool Housing Action Trust proportion of the development, the new communal facilities and the public open space through provision of a commuted sum. The development will accommodate a mix of dwellings ranging from single person through family houses to sheltered accommodation.

c) The provision
of new public open spaces and a new park [9] .

d) The provision of a replacement community centre [10] .

e) A new site access
off Thingwall Road [11], a pedestrian access from Mill Lane and the formation of new highways and traffic calming as required throughout the development.
